Volunteer Opportunities with our Patient Navigation and Survivor Services Program If you are interested in volunteering for this program, please complete our Volunteer Interest Form. For additional information, please contact Lorna Marchand, Patient Navigator Director. Other Volunteer Opportunities at Casa Esperanza Casa Esperanza is a home away from home for families facing cancer. We provide low cost lodging for those who travel from out of town to receive treatment in Albuquerque. In addition to cancer families when there are rooms available we work to accommodate other families with medical emergencies such as kidney transplants or families with premature babies. We have the ability to lodge 28 families at a time. Our house has all the amenities of home such as a kitchen, laundry room, play room and TV room. As I am sure you can understand that it takes a lot of work to keep a 28 room house running like a home. This is where we need your help. We need people who are interested in serving the community in many ways-such as planning resident activities, washing laundry, putting linens away, preparing snacks or meals, cleaning, setting up rooms for our families, and office work. You may be interested in volunteering for a specific holiday, an activity or a period of time. Some volunteers in the past have purchased groceries for families on Thanksgiving, collected new slipper socks, purchased phone cards or planned a holiday party. Each volunteer makes an incredible difference for the families who stay at our home. Like at you own home, there is much to do at Casa Esperanza. We have the ability to accommodate volunteer groups and clubs of all sizes or just one individual. There are many projects we have planned, and we rely on our volunteers to help us get through them. We also rely on them to help us create and plan new projects. People who have volunteered in the past have found the experience very rewarding. Most volunteers walk away with the feeling that they have received the greater gift by giving of their time. Individual volunteers can commit to as little as 2 hours per week. Each volunteer is required to fill out a volunteer application, and we do check references. I urge you to think about ways to help make our community a better place and to contact our guest services team or myself to discuss innovative ways to incorporate them with Casa Esperanza’s mission and the families we serve. Please call our Guest Services Team to schedule a time to come and tour our facility and to fill out a volunteer application. You can reach us Monday thru Thursday from 8am to 8pm, Fridays from 8am to 6pm, Saturdays 9am to 1pm or Sundays 11am to 6pm at (505)277-9880. I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you,
