A cancer diagnosis brings many challenges. In addition to learning how to manage your disease and the effects of treatment, you may suddenly be faced with overwhelming physical, emotional, financial, and practical issues. Just getting through the healthcare system can seem impossible at times.

We believe that people affected by cancer deserve support during this difficult time, not added stress.

Casa Esperanza’s Patient Navigation and Survivor Services Program is here to help you. Our on-site Cancer Information and Resource Center offers free publications and materials on many cancer topics, and a staff person is available to assist you with:

  • Locating resources
  • Communicating with your health care team
  • Making appointments for treatment and follow-up care
  • Coordinating translation services
  • Interpreting doctors’ instructions
  • Locating counseling and mental health providers
  • Finding survivors and support groups
  • Solving practical problems related to treatment (such as transportation, childcare, financial assistance, wigs and prosthetics, pain management and exercise)
  • Finding free and low-cost legal and financial counseling services

Our office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. If you would like to make an appointment to meet with the Patient Navigator to discuss your specific needs, please call 505-277-9882 or stop by the Patient Navigation office (next to the playroom). Patient referrals to Casa Esperanza’s Patient Navigation Program can be made using the referral form.

Below are links to some online resources. To view these documents, you will need to have the free Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your machine.
